Accounting & Auditing Manager
Position Summary:
Directs the day-to-day execution of a broad range of large and complex engagements so that the direct participation of senior managers or partners is minimized; requires significant client contact; assumes firm administrative responsibilities such as staff recruitment, scheduling, training and quality control.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages engagements through to report writing and communications with clients; Coordinates the various phases of an engagement, including staff requirements, locations to be visited, job planning, scheduling and troubleshooting.
- Resolves complex accounting, tax, auditing or other consulting problems related to engagement
- Develops and maintains technical expertise in areas of concentration
- Develops excellent client relationships on behalf of the firm
- Prepares reports, projects and other duties as may be assigned
- Accepts administrative duties in such areas as staff recruiting, training, scheduling, quality control, other organized committees
- Develops and maintains excellent client relationships.
- Consults directly with clients in areas of advanced technical issues, business and personal planning, identifies and provides solutions to problems.
- Prepares invoices to clients, communicates details of fees to clients, and assists in collection of overdue accounts
- Participates in Firm’s business development efforts, including:
- Providing outstanding and timely service to clients
- Identifying and making partners aware of potential expanded services we can provide to clients;
- Beginning to develop a referral network among professional peers (bankers, lawyers, insurance and investment brokers, etc.)
- Getting involved with professional and civic activities
- Accompanying partners and managers on business development calls
- Participating in business development training
- Begins acquiring the skills necessary to develop quality client relationships and loyalty
- Selecting a niche or area of expertise that is appropriate to the Firm’s business development program and executes a business plan to develop that expertise.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:
- Increasingly in-depth knowledge of financial management principles, accounting and internal control systems, and business principles sufficient to analyze clients’ complex business situations, identify problem areas and suggest solutions. For tax staff, knowledge of tax and financial planning principles sufficient to analyze clients’ complex financial situation, identify problem areas and suggest solutions.
- Demonstrates sound judgment in arriving at conclusions and in handling unusual or difficult situations.
- Conducts him/herself in a professional manner with confidence and ease in the presence of staff and client representatives.
- Delegates effectively.
- Proficiency with computers, spreadsheet software programs, calculator and other general office equipment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.
- Competency in technical skills, work quality and application of professional and Firm standards and ethics.
- Extensive command of GAAP, or industry specific, unique or specialized accounting principles, and financial statement presentations; thorough understanding of GAAS and common audit procedures and techniques.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ degree in accounting and CPA.
- Minimum of seven years of comparable work experience.
